Following December’s surprising eleventh hour announcement that the Conservative MP for North Dorset, Bob Walter, is to stand down, the Tory Party has at last announced its candidate for the General Election in May.
Responding to this Steve Unwin, UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for North Dorset, who has lived in Shaftesbury for over 20 years, commented:
“It is unsurprising to see that the Tories have tried to plant a Cameron crony into North Dorset.
“Simon Hoare has been parachuted in from David Cameron’s own constituency in Oxfordshire.
“It is shocking that they have placed someone here from the outside who has been a professional lobbyist for big greenbelt developers such as Barratt’s and Persimmon.
“This will surely prove to be highly controversial in rural towns in North Dorset, such as Shaftesbury.”
