The Great UKIP North Dorset Hog Roast was held on the 14th September 2014 in the copious grounds of our wonderful hosts Bill and Ann Woodhouse within the picturesque village of Mappowder.
The guests of honour were the irrepressible Neil and Christine Hamilton.
92 people attended and enjoyed a wonderful sunny day with a gentle breeze just keeping the heat down, a day made complete by our very talented singing treasurer, Charles Upton.
Some people liked the sun whilst others were content to sit beneath the shade of the odd strategically placed parasol. All enjoying the food, drink and convivial company.
For some the shade under the bushes was enough.
Some just came for the rest!
Others were hard at it, like Robbie on the ‘Guess the Weight of the Fruitcake‘ stand.
While some had brought chairs to sit on, others preferred the grass.
But then, shock horror! Someone had stolen Christine Hamilton’s Bun full of delicious hog roast and crackling!! Who can the culprit possibly be.
The owners of the notorious hog roast liberator of Mappowder will of course remain anonymous – you know who you are Tom and Beverley Rubython!
AAAARRRRRGGGHHH! Someone borrowed my camera!
Then came the speech.
Afterwards there was time for mingling and some photo opportunities with the guests of honour.
Now who’s this trying to hog the limelight? Now let me take a wild guess ……..
And now for some of the all-important canvassing team – those that brave gale and hail all year round (except Christmas and Hallowe’en) to bring news of UKIP to every door in North Dorset!
The whole day was topped off with a slice of the ubiquitous (for UKIP) fruit cake, baked for us by Jane Unwin, the wife of the North Dorset PPC Steve Unwin. The winer of the guess the weight of the cake competition was Beverley Rubython.
